07/08/19 [R/G/toler] Recently, in Oakland, CA, a number of people have been participating in what I believe are called “sideshows” in which intersections is blocked off and high-powered cars spin “doughnuts” in the intersection while onlookers watch the spectacle. I personally find this distasteful because it appeals to man's base instincts and is wasteful. [L/FP/coercion] However, there is no reason to coerce these people to cease doing this just because some of us think it is stupid. Fireworks displays also appeal to base instincts and waste a lot of money but no one is talking of banning these displays.

They create innocuous sounding terms like “single-payer” or now “medicare for all” to divert attention from the fact that it socialism. Are they ashamed of this? 07/05/19 [L/G/elite] For $1,500,000 you can now buy the URL LiberalElitist.com - Premium domain is now available. $1500000.00 (US) Serious inquires only. He mentioned working with segregationists one of whom he thinks is the meanest person he has ever known yet through civility he was able to work with him in order to get things done. [L/G/dogma] Fantastically, his fellow socialist candidates asked him to apologize for making a racist statement. What are these people using for brains? 06/13/19 [L/G/elite] According to a report on the news last night, Kim Jong Un own 33 homes and one property is five square miles in size. Wow—almost as luxurious living as that of Fidel Castro. They also said that there is a cadre of young people in North Korea who are living a grand life which is by design of Kim in that it keeps them content and unlikely to plot against him. 05/19/19 Writing in the mid twentieth century when the socialist governments in Europe were wreaking such havoc, author Rudolph Harvey uses the word totalitarian to refer to the socialist governments of Italy, Germany and Russia. [L/G/order] “In the totalitarian economic regime liberty cedes place to security. It is in the name of economic security that the totalitarian man is deprived of the liberty which the ownership and control of private property guarantees, of the right to select his occupation and to bargain for the price of his labor in the open market.” “The totalitarianism which begins by subjugating the ideal of liberty to that of equality ends by degrading and canceling both.” Rudolph Harvey The Metaphysical Relation Between Person and Liberty 05/18/19 [L/G/elite] “Nevertheless full membership of the German Nazi party as of the Russian Communist party is confined to a relatively small minority of the people the members constitute the Vanguard of the people; they are themselves leaders and this state is not only given peculiar privileges but also imposes upon them special responsibilities and obligations.” “Three political manifestations of the primacy of the collective are evident in totalitarianism 1) the governing power is neither hereditary elective 2) the social body is impregnated by the ideology of the Elite and 3) the mission of the nation, class, or race is realized through the techniques of power politics.” Rudolph Harvey The Metaphysical Relation Between Person and Liberty 05/17/19 I basically disagree with what Rudolph Harvey has to say in his book, “The Metaphysical Relation Between Person and Liberty”, but at least he gets some things right. For example, he says, [R/G/ideal] “For liberalism, legislation is always concerned with the rights of individuals; [L/G/authority/state] for totalitarianism, legislation is concerned with the rights of the collective and the duties of the individuals. Collectivization is to do totalitarianism what inviolable individualism was to historical liberalism. Rudolph Harvey The Metaphysical Relation Between Person and Liberty 05/16/19 [L/G/order] As liberalism gave liberty the primacy over order, totalitarianism exalts order at the expense of liberty. Rudolph Harvey The Metaphysical Relation Between Person and Liberty 05/15/19 [L/G/cent/decep] A central tenet of totalitarianism e.g. socialism is the belief that freedom consists of subjection to law and authority. Equating subjection and freedom is an example of left-thinking people speaking in opposites. |
